Renee Young - Signed 1968 Oil, Village Harbour

Description

An expressive oil on canvas by the artist Renee Young, with impressionistic features and large brush strokes. Central to the composition are two figures, with the dual forms reflected in the two small fishing boats floating in the harbour to the left, giving the overall scene a sense of harmony. Signed and dated to the lower right corner, as shown. Signed and dated. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

In fine condition. Inspection under UV light reveals there is a previous repair to the canvas in the upper right corner, which has been overpainted. There are some other small areas of paint loss, mostly to the edges of the canvas as shown.

Collection Information

From an extensive collection of works by the artist. While most are signed, all are from her studio. Her subjects include portraits, figure studies and landscapes and are executed in a range of mediums, including oil, watercolour, pastel, pencil and charcoal. We also acquired a cache of her personal items, including some photographs and even her chest x-ray (not for sale).
