A fine original 1801 engraving by James Basire (1730-1802) after a drawing by J.M.W. Turner, entitled 'A View of the Chapel and Hall of Oriel College' in Oxford, England. The view shows a variety of fine architectural detail and figures in a quadrangle, with a pinnacled tower behind. The work has been cropped within the plate lines. Unsigned and inscribed. On laid.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and small tears to the lower and upper edge, some of which have been repaired.
