A charming miniature gouache study showing a group of men on horseback hunting two delicately depicted deer. Inscribed. On wove.


The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is a minor loss to the lower right corner and substantial creasing to the page. With some paint loss to the lower half of the artwork, as shown in the image above.

This beautiful collection of Indian miniatures was probably taken from original manuscripts. The subjects vary from landscape and hunting scenes to ornate court interiors. The delicate and intricate brushwork has been expertly applied to the substrate with touches of ornate gold paint.
