Early 20th Century Watercolour - One of the Biggest & Ugliest Horses I've Ridden

Item Sold

Original Early 20th Century Watercolour. On blue paper. Inscribed below. Unsigned. In fine condition.

From a fascinating album labelled Court Farm, The BV, Dorset, 1935-1937. Documenting the sights and events of the Blackmore Vale Hunt in Dorset, with associated images of local scenes, landscapes, carthorses and farm animals. Views include Sidmouth, Cerne Abbas, Salisbury. Together, the album images form a remarkable record of English country pursuits in the 1930s, with sensitively painted watercolours and graphite drawings, often with humorous, anecdotal inscriptions. Many of the album pages are brought further to life by black and white photographs pasted down, capturing specific local views and touching family portraits. As well as individual album pages and drawings, the album itself, with some pages of photography still intact, is also available.
