A refreshing collection celebrating this poster artist's many travels at home and abroad. After studying at Goldsmiths, Burley produced work for Southern Railway, British Railways and Hovis.
A large collection of refreshing watercolour landscapes by British artist David William Burley, celebrating his many travels at home and abroad. Painted in his later years, this collection encompasses a colourful view of the British countryside, coastal destinations, and agricultural scenes of the 1980's. Most of the works presented in this folio are signed and dated by the artist.
Both painter and poster designer, Burley was born in Greenwich and studied at Goldsmiths School of Art in London. He subsequently worked as a poster artist and painter, designing posters for Southern Railway and British Railways as well as producing publicity material for Hovis.
Burley exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours , the Royal Academy and the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. He was a Member of the Society of Industrial Artists and Designers and lived in Birchington-on-Sea, Kent.
