Late 19th Century Oil - Watching Sheep From A Bend In The River
DescriptionA rustic and decoratively sized oil landscape showing a figure, standing in a boat on the bend of a river, watching a flock of sheep graze in a lush green pasture. The whole scene is enfolded in verdant trees and grassy banks. The artist has signed illegibly to the lower left corner and the painting has been presented in a charming, carved, gilt effect frame with acanthus leaf strapwork. On canvas.
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and craquelure to the surface. There are several tears to the canvas which have been fully restored, front and back. The frame is in typical condition for its age with some tarnishing and minor cracking to the strapwork.
