DescriptionA view across a river in Dorset at dusk, possibly titled with an archaic spelling of the River Piddle which lies on the chalk downlands. Signed and inscribed with the title to the lower-left corner.
There is some discolouration, primarily to the edges, and some surface marks. Overall in good condition.

W.H. Wright-Rudby (1855-1954) was an English watercolourist who often painted landscapes of his native Dorset. A watercolour by Rudby is in the collection of the National Trust, as part of the Dudmaston collection. He is also known to have signed his paintings 'H. Wright Rudby' and 'H. Rudby'.
