Kathleen Mullaniff - Contemporary Oil, Eve In The Garden
A truly magical scene with elements of fauvism, art nouveau and modernism, combined to make a dreamlike vignette of a beautiful, nude Eve, holding an apple, plucked from the Tree of Life, surrounded by the beauty of Eden. The garden overflows with irises and other flowers blooming by a river on which a boat floats by in the distance. The dramatic colour palette and heavy use of texture and pattern make this a painting with great depth and intrigue. The large size of this artwork makes it a fantastic statement piece that would fill a large space such as a stairwell with great confidence.
The artist has signed, dated and inscribed the canvas to the reverse. On canvas.
The painting has areas of craquelure and general wear to the paint at the outer edges of the canvas. There is some scratching to the paint in the lower left quadrant.
