Rt Rev Cuthbert Bardsley (1907-1991) - Mid 20th Century Oil, Beach Shack

Item Sold

An expressive coastal landscape in oil with impasto, by The Right Reverend Cuthbert Bardsley, Bishop of Coventry (1907-1991). Bardsley has a fine command of composition and form, and employs an emotive impasto style in order to add a sense of dynamic movement to the setting. The tree to the foreground and the rough headland in the distance are both evocative of a Mediterranean landscape. Signed. On canvas on stretchers.

In very good condition overall. Only some light scuffing to the corners of the canvas.

37.9 x 48.7cm (14.9" x 19.2")
Sheet: 41.7 x 51.6cm (16.4" x 20.3")
